Optical Encoders

Quantum Devices, Inc. offers optical encoders in the following configurations: SC12 (1.22") diameter sine/cosine, QR12 (1.22") diameter, QDH20 industrial, JR12 jam nut mount, and HR12 HEDS compatible. Model SC12 (1.22") diameter optical sine/cosine encoders feature 2-8 pole commutations, resolutions up to 1250 LPR, high noise immunities, a variety of bolt circle mount options, and an RoHS construction. These encoders have operating temperatures ranging from -20 to 115°C, shaft speeds up to 8000 RPM, through shaft diameters ranging from 0.250" to 0.375", and a 500 kHz frequency response rating. Quantum Devices also offers QD787 incremental solid shaft, QD200 incremental/commutation, and LP12 sin/cos/incremental optical encoders.

U.S. Digital offers EM1 transmissive optical encoder modules, E5 optical kit encoders, and E4P OEM miniature optical kit encoders. EM1 transmissive optical encoder modules feature internal decoupling capacitors, quadratures (two-channel) with available indexes, source/sing 8 mA outputs, and RoHS specification compliance. They have supply voltages ranging from 4.5 to 5.5 VDC, resolutions ranging from 32 to 2,500 CPR, operating temperatures ranging from -55 to 125°C, and load capacitance ratings up to 100 pF.

Allied Motion Technologies, Inc. offers CP-800/900 Series solid and hollow shaft encoders. These encoders feature aluminum housings, IP54 protection ratings, 416 stainless steel shafts, ABEC-7 bearings, and face mounted springs. They come in shaft diameters ranging from 0.3745" to 0.5", starting torques up to 1.5 oz-in, operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +90°C, and single turn absolute resolutions up to 16-bit.

Automation Direct offers TRD-S Series light duty, TRD-N Series medium duty, and TRD-GK Series heavy duty optical encoders. TRD-S Series light duty rotary incremental encoders feature IP40 (dust-proof) certification, up to 200 KHz in response frequency ratings, 38mm body diameters, and 30mm body depths. These encoders can be ordered in 12-24 VDC or 5V line driver models, and they are ideally used for small applications.

Grayhill offers optical encoders in over a half dozen models for a wide range of applications, including: electric motors, flow meters, material handling, machine tool controls, steer by wire, pulse/signal generators, oscilloscopes, agricultural/construction equipment, etc. These encoders feature life cycle ratings up to 300,000,000 and resolutions ranging from 8 to 32 PPR. They come in body sizes ranging from 0.500" to 1.770" and behind panel lengths ranging from 0.220" to 0.702".

BEI Sensors (BEI Industrial Encoders) offers shafted, hollow shaft, and specialty type incremental optical encoders for the following applications: metering, food processing, robotics, textile equipment, agricultural machinery, process control, etc. Model H20 incremental encoders feature shaft diameters ranging from 1/4" to 3/8", supply voltages ranging from 5 to 28 VDC, operating temperatures ranging from -25 to 90°C, and RPM's up to 8000. These encoders are constructed from stainless steel and aluminum materials, and they are available with a wide range of certifications, including: UL, CSA, EN, CENELEC, Canadian Standards, US Standards, etc.

Emoteq Crop offers optical encoders for monochromator direct-drive, 3D scanner platform, and military "seeker" system applications. These encoders have space widths ranging from 0.025" to 0.00091", resolutions ranging from 20 to 550 LPI, 1" upper limit diameters, and tolerances of +/-0.005". They feature optically punched holes, Class-A tooling fabrication, and image production sizes up to 22.8" x 31.5".
