Feedback Devices

Feedback devices are typically found within motion controller devices, where they provide information regarding position and velocity.

Common feedback devices include encoders for position feedback, tachometers for velocity feedback, optical or mechanical switches for end-of-travel information, index signals for a fixed reference position, and Hall Effect sensors for brushless motor phase information. The majority of feedback devices use digital TTL level pulse trains or analog signals, however new absolute feedback devices are capable of serial communication.
